Since its invasion of Tibet in 1949, the "People's" Republic of China has engaged in housing rights violations involving the systematic destruction of Tibetan architectural heritage. These violations are part of the dictatorship’s goal of controlling Tibet through a policy of assimilation coupled with the destruction of Tibetan cultural heritage.
