I never had the privilege of meeting Barry Hannah, but I felt as though I knew him well through his writings. Barry was the penultimate storyteller, humorist, and Southern Gentleman. I was introduced to Barry through "Geronimo Rex", in which he described Mississippi College, where he attended, as did I nearly a decade afterward. No icon was too sound to be toppled by Barry's wit and satire. The world is a sadder place now.
